Privacy policy

Phrasebird is a live AI language tutor. We use your sign-in identity and speaking-time balance to provide your account, free trial and subscription.

Live conversations

When you start a conversation, your microphone audio is sent directly to OpenAI to provide live speech and captions using GPT-Live-1. OpenAI also processes conversation context with GPT-5.6 Luna when the tutor needs help or you request a hint. You can mute the microphone or end the conversation anytime.

Phrasebird does not save live audio recordings or conversation transcripts in its database. Captions stay in the current lesson screen and are cleared when you leave it. We request that live sessions and hint responses are not stored through the API’s optional storage feature. OpenAI may retain data for abuse monitoring under its own API data policies.

Account and payments

Firebase provides sign-in and stores account identifiers, usage balances and session timing. Dodo Payments processes subscriptions and payment details. Phrasebird stores your Dodo customer and subscription identifiers, but does not receive your full card details.

Other providers

Vercel hosts the service and supplies aggregate analytics. Upstash supports request limits, Resend delivers support messages, and Sentry receives technical error reports. We do not intentionally include live audio or transcripts in analytics or error reports.

Retention and control

Usage and billing records are kept to operate the service and enforce speaking allowances. Data from earlier Phrasebird versions may remain associated with your account until you request deletion. To request a copy of your account data or account deletion, use the contact page. We verify ownership before acting. Billing records that must be retained and providers’ operational records may remain under their applicable policies.
